MSW Treatment Technology Fully Developed

MSW disposal in Mianyang   developed from simple dumping, composting, sanitary landfill and integrated treatment.

  Before 1980, wastes were filled in ravines posing severe pollution to surroundings In early1990s, composting by mechanical means were developed and a composting facility was built. The facility eventually failed to operate due to the fact that technology and equipment proved ineffective, the composts in poor quality could not meet the standard and government policies for operation were not available.

  In mid 1990s, 30 million Yuan RMB were invested in a sanitary landfill construction and the ever since the landfill served as MSW disposal site, which at present can hardly meet demands for increasing MSW disposal as a result of urban expansion and population growth.

In 2000, the municipality gave full support to the environment protection industry development by providing part of project financing in addition to national bond financing and Sichuan Science City Shengong Environmental Protection Engineering Co.,Ltd. invested in Mianyang integrated MSW facility (700t/d) construction and project construction began in 2002.

Integrated Treatment-Sustainable MSW Disposal Option

At present, MSW are mixed and collected in plastic bags, mixed MSW contain less combustibles and a greater part is found to be organics, in this case any single disposal option can hardly cope with the disposal.

By combining the advantages of single disposal options, the integrated MSW disposal option functions properly in waste separation via mechanical and human means, recovered combustibles are incinerated, organic fraction is fermented by way of aerobic and anaerobic digestion and eventually turned into composts, glass, plastics and metal are recovered, residues are landfilled.

Mianyang integrated MSW facility (700t/d)

Based on the design and operation of Sichuan Xichang integrated MSW facility (200t/d), Shengong company invested 64.98 million Yuan RMB in Mianyang integrated MSW facility (700t/d) construction co financed by national bond accounting for 23 million Yuan RMB and local government grant in amount of 10 million Yuan RMB.

-Project Objective

After construction the facility provides effective service in terms of MSW disposal in Mianyang for the nest 10 to15 years.

The facility serves as pilot project for integrated MSW treatment technology and equipment R&D and a demonstration basis for popularizing integrated MSW treatment technology. In addition, the facility serves as training and education platform.
